About Me

My name is Yusaku. I hold a master’s degree in pharmacy from one of Japan’s top universities, where I gained experience conducting medical experiments and writing academic papers. Additionally, I have 7 years of experience working in the Japanese pharmaceutical industry.

As a Japanese tutor, I have taught students of various levels for several months. I welcome learners of all Japanese levels! In particular, I have a strong understanding of scientific subjects, including their terminology in Japanese, making me an ideal tutor for students who want to focus on discussions in science-related topics or business-level Japanese.

My hobbies include reading manga and playing games, especially Pokémon and Genshin Impact. I’d love to hear about your hobbies during our lessons as well.

I have experience teaching Japanese to elementary school students. I focus on providing clear and careful instruction, tailored to each student’s level and needs.

I also have extensive experience preparing students for Japanese language exams, including grammar explanations, listening, and reading practice, as well as teaching business Japanese, including polite expressions (keigo).

Furthermore, I offer practical lessons that cover basic travel phrases and everyday conversation, designed to meet each student’s specific goals

From beginners to advanced learners, I aim to support each student in improving their Japanese skills effectively and enjoyably, while helping them achieve their personal learning objectives.

In the initial trial lesson, I will first ask about your learning goals and work with you to find the most effective learning method. If you have any preferred materials or specific requests, I can tailor the lessons accordingly.

If you don’t have a specific preference, you’re welcome to choose one of the following learning plans.

• Standard Course:

We will use the textbook GENKI to build a solid foundation in Japanese. You’ll improve your overall Japanese ability by training all four skills—reading, listening, writing, and speaking—in a balanced manner. Starting from zero, you can expect to be able to have basic conversations with native speakers within about one year. Completing both GENKI I and II will prepare you to reach approximately JLPT N4 level.

Recommended for:

– Complete beginners

– Those who want to work or study in Japan in the future

– Those planning to move to Japan someday

– Those who have enough time before traveling to Japan

– Learners aiming to pass JLPT N5 or N4

• Intensive Course:

We will use materials such as Marugoto, Irodori, and online resources to focus on useful vocabulary and phrases in a short period of time.

Recommended for:

– Beginners who are traveling to Japan soon

– Learners who prefer to skip learning scripts (hiragana, katakana, kanji) and focus only on practical words and phrases

• Conversation Course:

You can talk about topics of your choice. I will correct mistakes and introduce more natural expressions during the conversation to help improve your speaking skills. If you’re not sure what to talk about, we can read and discuss a news article appropriate for your level.

Recommended for:

– Learners who can already hold a basic conversation and want to improve fluency and naturalness in expression

• JLPT Preparation Course:

We will work on slightly challenging questions using JLPT prep books and websites and go over the answers together. You will also be assigned homework with questions at or just below your current level to reinforce your basic knowledge.

Recommended for:

– Learners who are planning to take the JLPT

– For complete beginners, I recommend starting with the Standard Course using a textbook
